Feb 7th The Laughing Heart

The Laughing Heart

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Charles Bukowski

We bought our first home just in July of last year.  I was so proud of myself because 5 years prior…when I was sleeping in my car while going through Manager Training, I made a promise to myself that I would own my own home by the time I was thirty.  And there I was 5 days before my 30th birthday we closed on our split ranch abode.  Why am I telling you this now?  Because I our first day in the place…the oven circuit board shit the bed and for 6 months we have been using a plug-in burner, crock pot, skillet, and just about every other table top device we had to cook with.  But today I decided that I would  Tackle a nagging task and buy a new stove.    While it took a lot of time to save up the extra money for it, the biggest challenge was just going to the store a picking out an affordable one.  I always dwell one big financial decisions (well big in my eyes).

I always find it hard to keep my resolutions on days that I have off because lets face it…in the dead of winter there isn’t a whole lot to do outside of the house besides freeze your butt off.  But I do my best to keep them when I have the opportunity.  I told the lady who cut my hair what a great job she did today (Give Positive Reviews)…I even carried on a conversation with her the lasted a whole five minutes because I went back in to Bill Land.  I usually would just be silent and thank her and be out the door as quickly as possible.  Another Nagging task accomplished…getting my hair cut.

I was near the end of 2016 when I realized that my life was totally out of balance. I was 30 and I was working my life away. I did not have strong relationships with my wife, family, or friends. It was around this time that I came across THE HAPPINESS PROJECT by Gretchen Rubin. It was then that I decided to launch my own year long project towards personal happiness for the entire year of 2017.
